The Nintendo Gameboy's sound chip is not known for subtly. But you can still manage to coax a bit of ambience out of it for cut scenes or quiet moments in your game. These 18 ambient stereo soundscapes are inspired by classic ambient, "soft" moments from classic games like Metroid 2, Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening and others. All tracks use only channel 1 (duty) and channel 4 (noise) to create looping soundscapes (with a few exceptions which use wav or 2 duty), leaving space for sfx on channel 2. There are multiple volume versions of some of the more busy patterns combinations of sounds.

These also serve as good starting point for .uge musicians who can build a melody on top of these soundscapes using the remaining channels.

I really like these pieces even as a standalone experience. These tracks are kind of haunting in their own unique crunchy Game Boy way. I'll be looking to use these in future if I find a suitable application. Good work!

thanks! There is something unsettling about the gameboy chip NOT making much noise.
